Coverage built specifically for spray foam contractors.
Standard contractor policies exclude off-ratio claims, under-limit pollution liability, and miss the completed-operations tail that spray foam work demands. We build programs designed for the real risks of foam application.

The coverage gaps that cost spray foam contractors the most.
Most agents hand a spray foam contractor a generic GL policy and call it done. Then an off-ratio claim, an off-gassing complaint, or a completed-operations loss hits and the exclusion kicks in. We underwrite the parts of your operation everyone else leaves out.
Run by people who know contractors
Contractors Choice Agency was founded in 2005 by Josh Cotner, who comes from the trades. We know what spray foam contractors face at claim time — and we build programs that actually pay.
Off-ratio coverage that doesn't exclude the claim
Standard GL policies exclude off-ratio spray foam claims. We place programs with off-ratio endorsements so an improper-mix loss is actually covered.
Contractor pollution liability built for foam
Isocyanate off-gassing, chemical spills, and vapor releases are excluded by standard GL. We place CPL specifically written for spray foam chemical exposures.
E&S market access for hard-to-place risks
Been declined over loss history, off-ratio exposure, or commercial operations? We have E&S markets for spray foam contractors others won't touch.
Completed-operations tail coverage
Spray foam claims often come 1–3 years after the job. We structure GL with adequate completed-operations limits and tail coverage so long-tail claims are covered.
Tools & equipment at replacement cost
Proportioners, spray guns, and heated hoses are expensive. We cover spray foam equipment at replacement cost — not depreciated ACV — so a loss doesn't leave you short.
Run by a former contractor
Josh Cotner knows how specialty contracting works and what happens when coverage fails at claim time — on the job and in the claims process.

We shop E&S and admitted markets
Specialty markets that actually write spray foam GL, off-ratio endorsements, and CPL — not generic contractor markets that exclude the exposures that matter.
Bind a program built for foam
GL + CPL + off-ratio coverage + workers' comp + commercial auto, coordinated so there are no gaps across your spray foam operation.
Claims support that moves fast

Contractors who found coverage that actually pays.
“We'd been declined three times for off-ratio coverage before finding this program. They understood the underwriting appetite, placed an A-rated carrier, and had us bound in two days. No other broker came close.”
Marcus T.
Owner, Spray Foam Contractor · Texas
“A completed-operations claim from an off-gassing complaint hit us two years after the job. Our old carrier denied it. Spray Foam Insurance Carrier had us in a program with proper completed-ops tail coverage — the claim was handled.”
Sandra R.
Operations Director · Florida
“When a GC required $5M umbrella for a commercial project, most insurers couldn't stack the limits. These specialists built the tower — GL plus CPL plus umbrella — exactly as the contract required. We got the job.”
Derek M.
President, Foam Systems LLC · Ohio
Spray foam contractor insurance, in plain English.
A spray foam contractor typically needs general liability (with completed-operations coverage), contractor pollution liability for chemical exposures, an off-ratio endorsement or standalone policy, workers' compensation, commercial auto for trucks and spray rigs, tools & equipment coverage, commercial umbrella, and contractor bonds. Most operations carry all eight as one coordinated program.
Excess and surplus lines (E&S) carriers are non-admitted insurers that take risks standard admitted markets won't write. Spray foam contracting is a specialty risk — off-ratio claims, chemical pollution, and completed-operations exposure mean many standard contractors markets exclude or severely limit coverage. E&S markets write the full risk.
Off-ratio refers to spray foam applications where the A and B chemical components are mixed outside the manufacturer's specified ratio. The result can be adhesion failure, odor, off-gassing, or structural damage — and standard GL policies typically exclude the resulting claims. Off-ratio coverage (as an endorsement or standalone policy) is what actually covers these losses.
Only if the policy is properly structured. Standard GL often has low completed-operations sublimits or exclusions for foam-specific perils. We build GL programs with adequate completed-operations limits and make sure the off-ratio and pollution exclusions don't swallow the coverage.
CPL covers third-party bodily injury, property damage, cleanup costs, and defense arising from the release of pollutants — including isocyanate and polyol compounds, off-gassing during and after spray foam application, and chemical spills. Standard GL excludes pollution. CPL fills that gap.
With the right CPL policy, yes. Isocyanate is a known respiratory sensitizer and the primary chemical exposure risk in spray foam work. CPL covers third-party claims for bodily injury from isocyanate off-gassing during or after application. Workers' comp covers crew exposure.
Spray foam applicators typically fall under insulation contractor codes — but the specific code depends on the type of work (residential, commercial, roofing). Correct classification matters: wrong codes mean audit surprises. We assign class codes to your actual operation.
Vehicles and towed trailers used on public roads need commercial auto coverage. The spray rig, proportioner, and related equipment on the trailer may need an inland marine or tools & equipment floater in addition to auto — we coordinate both so the rig and the equipment are covered.
It depends on annual revenue, crew size, job types (residential vs. commercial), loss history, and which lines you carry. Small operations may pay a few thousand per year; larger commercial contractors pay more. We quote your actual operation in about 15 minutes — never a generic estimate.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Admitted markets offer more consumer protections but many will not write spray foam at all or impose broad off-ratio and pollution exclusions. E&S markets typically provide more complete coverage. We shop both and recommend what actually covers your risk.
Admitted carriers are licensed and regulated by state insurance departments — claims disputes are backed by state guaranty funds. Surplus lines (E&S) carriers are non-admitted and subject to different regulation; there is no guaranty fund backstop. However, E&S carriers often provide the only complete coverage available for specialty risks like spray foam contracting.
Often yes through E&S markets. Declined contractors, those with off-ratio loss history, or those with pollution claims can usually find a market. We have E&S access for spray foam contractors who have been declined by standard carriers or have challenging loss runs.
Yes. Contractors Choice Agency is licensed in all 50 states and has markets for spray foam operations whether your business is in Texas, Florida, Ohio, California, or anywhere in between.
Typically 15 minutes on a call for standard programs. For larger commercial operations or contractors with complex loss history, we may need a day or two to involve the right E&S markets — but we move fast and tell you the timeline up front.
Common subjectivities include: manufacturer certification documentation, completed training records for applicators, site safety protocols, proof of PPE compliance, and loss control questionnaires. We help you prepare documentation that supports the best underwriting terms.
Yes — Lloyd's syndicates are a significant E&S market for specialty contractor risks including spray foam. We have access to Lloyd's paper through our surplus lines markets when domestic E&S markets aren't the best fit for a specific risk profile.
Standard GL uses an occurrence trigger for bodily injury and property damage — the coverage in force at the time of the occurrence responds. For completed operations, the key is ensuring adequate limits were in force at the time of the foam application, since claims may come years later.
Usually yes. Bundling GL, CPL, off-ratio coverage, workers' comp, and commercial auto into one coordinated program closes gaps between policies and is typically cheaper and cleaner than separate policies from separate carriers — and far easier to manage at claim time.
Key endorsements include: off-ratio coverage (or standalone policy), contractor pollution liability, completed-operations extended reporting period, additional insured endorsements for GCs and building owners, and waiver of subrogation. We build the endorsement schedule to match your job contracts.
Underwriters look at: annual revenue and job mix (residential vs. commercial), years in business, crew training and certifications, manufacturer authorizations, loss history (especially completed-operations and pollution claims), and the spray systems used. A clean loss run and documented training program are the biggest factors in favorable pricing.
